The Quad Pong Nation Tournament Rules
Beer Pong Rules for the Quad Pong Team (please note that depending on where you go, or who you play with, many people have different variations for their beer pong rules of the game)
- EYE TO EYE FOR HONORS
To determine which team throws first players must go eye to eye. One player from each team looks at each other eye to eye, and throws at the same time to try and make a cup. Player’s on each team must rotate and throw eye to eye until a cup is made. If both players make a cup, then both shots cancel each other out. The first team to make a cup gets to throw first. That cup stays on the beer pong table and the game begins.
- KEEP THE CUPS ON THE TABLE
If a cup falls, accident or not that cup is pulled. If the cup that falls happens to be the last cup then the game is over and the opposing team wins. A team can catch the cup but if any liquid falls out, the cup must be removed.
- OVERTHROWS
Over throws are implemented during tournament play when more then one team is waiting for the next game on the beer pong table. If you throw over it’s a one cup penalty. An over is a throw that does not touch either a cup or the beer pong table. There are no over penalties on the last cup. That rule only applies to the team that has one cup left.
- BOUNCES
A bounce is a ball that hits the beer pong table before making it in a cup. Bounces that make it in a cup count for 2 cups. Once a ball hits either the lip of a cup or any part of the beer pong table it is free game to grab or slap away; so all bounces can be blocked. Be careful not to knock a cup over in the process of playing defense
- BRING IT BACK
Any time two cups are made on the same turn that team gets the balls back. The made cups are pulled and the team that made two cups gets the opportunity to throw again.
- GUYS FINGER
Any time a ball is spinning along the inner lip of a cup guys can finger it out. But, if any part of your finger touches liquid then it’s counted as a make. You are only allowed to use one hand when attempting to finger.
- GIRLS BLOW
Any time a ball is spinning along the inner lip of a cup ladies can blow it out.
- TWO BALLS, SAME CUP / ON FIRE
Do not pull cups until both players have shot. After a first ball is made, the defending team has the choice whether to leave the ball in the cup or pull it out. Two balls in the same cup results in 3 cups pulled. If both players make different cups, the cups are pulled and the team receives the balls back for another turn. If a player makes two in a row he is considered “heating up” and must announce it to the opposing team, if he then makes his next shot, he has made 3 in a row and now is considered “on fire”. He will receive the ball back and is allowed to keep shooting until he misses.
- RE-RACKS
Starting with 10 cups there are only two re-racks: A triangle shape is made when you have 6 cups left and then again at 3 cups and the last cup is centered in the middle of the beer pong table. There are NO re-racks mid-turn! If you miss your rack, you must then get to the next number of cups to receive your rack.
- TEAM MEMBERS SHOOTING TOGETHER
Teams may throw at the same time. Teams may come up with a variation of tactics to try and distract the other team. For example: As one team member shoots, the other bounces simultaneously.
- LAST CUP
Once you get down to the last cup you must center it in the back row. If the cup falls off the beer pong table due to a shot; the game is over. If the team is able to catch the cup with no liquid spilt then the cup may be placed back in its regular position.
- ELBOW RULE
No part of your body may be touching the beer pong table when you throw. Also, your shoulders must be even with or behind the last row of cups when you throw. Elbows can be over the beer pong table but not by far since you shoulders need to stay even or behind the last row. A violation of this rule results in a re-throw for the first offense, and a loss of turn for any violation there after.
- REBUTTALS
A rebuttal is an opportunity to keep the game alive. If a team makes the last cup, then the opposing team has a chance to rebuttal. Each partner has one chance to make a cup. No matter the circumstance only one cup needs to be made in order to keep the game alive. If a cup is made, it does not get pulled since the throw was a rebuttal.
If both partners sink the rebuttal attempt then one cup would be pulled since the first was a rebuttal. You DO NOT get the balls back when two cups are made on a rebuttal.
Once a team gets down to a single cup you cannot pull that cup if it is made. If both players make the last cup on the same turn then there is no chance to rebuttal. Anytime 2 balls are made in the last cup its game over.
If a team has two or remaining and makes a ball in each of them they get the balls back with an opportunity to make two balls in the same cup. If that happens the game is over. If not, the other team needs to hit a rebuttal to keep the game going.
If a team has two or three cups remaining and the opposing team makes the same cup, the game is over.
Optional Beer Pong Rules:
Bounce Backs: If a player shoots the ball and the ball rolls back to their side they may shoot it again behind their back. A player may not cross the mid way point of the beer pong table to retrieve the ball. If a ball hits the ground the ball is dead and given to the opposing team.
Off the Wall: An off the wall shot or off of the ceiling shot is worth 2 cups. If it makes it in the same cup then 4 cups are pulled and balls back. If 2 off the wall shots make it in the same cup the game is over.
The Bomb Rule: If both balls are made in the same cup it acts as a bomb and all touching cups must be removed. Note: If both members make the middle cup at the beginning of the game, the game is over.
No Overs: If a player over throws he is not penalized for it. Usually Overs are implemented when there is more then one team waiting.
Clear the Table: A rebuttal rule, if a team makes the last cup, the opposing team must clear the beer pong table of all cups in order to force overtime. Overtime is played with three cups in their normal rack.
